Orthopedic surgeon with formal fellowship training in adult and pediatric spine surgery, with emphasis and special interest in scoliosis surgery and spinal deformities.
My work philosophy is based on empathy, excellence, and commitment to each patient’s well-being. I firmly believe that there are no two identical cases, so I dedicate the necessary time to listen, understand, and address each person’s specific needs in an individualized manner. I guide my medical practice with values of respect, honesty, and responsibility, always seeking to provide human, scientific, and ethical care that builds trust and supports the patient at every stage of treatment toward a better quality of life.
I provide comprehensive care to patients with spinal diseases, from a complete initial assessment and support with specific diagnostic studies to the development of a personalized treatment plan. My approach prioritizes non-surgical options—such as rehabilitation and image-guided spinal blocks—and, when necessary, I include innovative and minimally invasive surgical procedures, always aimed at improving each patient’s quality of life and functional ability.

After having an intense infection in my hand, I was immediately helped by the team at Clínica del Campestre. From the emergency operation to the second operation and the follow-ups, everything was very smooth. The staff was calm, professional, and reassuring throughout the entire process. Honestly, I have not been treated better even in my home country Germany, and I am very grateful for the experience. A big thank you to the whole team and Dr. Carlos Gonzales.

Have had an annoying sprain in my knee for months. Was told this was the place for those of us with still limited Spanish and for ortho issues. I loved the building, the staff were so very kind, access to outdoor from the back, the quality of my care, 💯 The cafe could have more healthy options. Only thing this vegan found were the two choices of jugos.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most requested procedure in your practice?

The most requested procedures are usually column blocks, which represent an effective alternative before considering surgery. They allow pain control, improve function, and, in many cases, avoid more extensive interventions. When surgery becomes necessary, the most frequent procedures are microdiscectomies, either using open or endoscopic techniques, and spinal fusions.

What makes you different from other doctors in your specialty?

What sets me apart from other specialists is that I am a spine surgeon with formal two-year training in the United States and Canada, which allows me to offer an updated approach aligned with the most advanced international standards. This training gives me the ability to apply modern and safe techniques, combining the quality and precision of North American medicine with significantly more affordable costs.

What is the estimated recovery time for your most common treatments?

It varies depending on the type of procedure performed. In the case of spinal blocks, recovery is usually practically immediate, allowing the patient to resume their activities in a short time. For minor surgeries, such as microdiscectomies, the average recovery period is about one week, while for more complex surgeries, such as arthrodesis or deformity corrections, recovery usually extends to around two weeks.

What care should an international patient take before and after traveling?

The most important thing is to bring the entire complete medical history, including reports from prior consultations, surgeries, treatments performed, and any relevant medical history. It is also essential to have all recent diagnostic tests and imaging available, such as MRIs, CT scans, or X-rays. This information allows for a comprehensive assessment and the design of a complete, personalized management plan, optimizing the time and effectiveness of treatment during their stay.
